Nanaimo Gladiolus and Dahlia Society

About Me

I moved to Nanaimo in May 2010 from an acerage outside of Calgary, Alberta. Gardening has been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember, but I got the "Dahlia" bug  around 1995. My profile picture is actually of one of the first tubers I ordered from B.C.---Kari Fruit Salad.  Just like our furniture and dishes, some of my tubers moved with me. I was so excited to get to a place where my dahlias didn't freeze  Labor Day weekend.

My first August here I was thrilled to take in the Nanaimo Glad and Dahlia show. I was spellbound by the beauty on show and realized I had found a great opportunity.

Needless to say I joined the Society and went to my first meeting that September. I was relieved to find that everyone was so welcoming and shared their immense knowledge so freely. They even encouraged me to enter in this year's show, and little Kari Fruit Salad even got a ribbon.

I sure encourage more to join our group---you can't be disappointed.
